A series of tweets were released by Kuba Wojciechowski, a reliable source of information for developers, today. The tweets shared details about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
The internal codename for this processor is “Lanai” or “Pineapple”, while the model number is “SM8650”.
The processor boasts of a 2+3+2+1 architecture, but the clock frequency information is not clear yet. According to the source, the core configuration is as follows:
- Two Arm “silver” cores with code name “Hayes” (A5xx)
- Three Arm “gold” cores with code name “Hunter” (A7xx)
- Two Arm “titanium” cores with code name “Hunter” (A7xx)
- One Arm “gold+” core with code name “Hunter ELP” (Xn)
Due to the absence of related CPU cores, the chipset does not support 32-bit Android applications and games. This means that all developers must update their apps to the 64-bit architecture.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is also equipped with an Adreno 750 GPU (Adreno Gen 7.9.0) with a clock frequency of 770MHz. However, the clock frequency might be higher after the official launch on flagship models.
The processor supports Android 14 and Linux Kernel 6.1, and is manufactured using TSMC’s improved 4nm process or Samsung’s 3nm process.
