At the 2023 Rokid Open Day, Rokid announced the release of its latest consumer-grade AR smart glasses, the Rokid Max. The company also unveiled the Rokid Max Pro and Station Pro, a new operating system called YodaOS-Master, and the Rokid AR creation tool, AR Maz 3. The new products are now available for pre-order, with the standard pricing set at ¥2,999 ($439) and the Rokid Max+Station bundle priced at ¥3,599.
According to the company, the Rokid Max has significantly improved visual, auditory, and wearing experiences. In terms of visuals, the Rokid Max uses a new BirdBath module, achieving a FOV of up to 50 degrees, equivalent to a 215-inch ultra-high-definition screen 6 meters away. At the same time, the Rokid Max comes with a Micro OLED screen from Sony Semiconductor Technology, with a maximum brightness of 600nit and a resolution of 1920×1080, supporting a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
In terms of audio, the Rokid Max is equipped with the first AR-specific ultra-linear speaker from ReSound Technology, providing more immersive and private surround sound effects. In addition, the Rokid Max’s built-in stereo speakers are designed with Rokid’s patented technology, significantly improving sound directionality and audio quality.
In terms of hardware design, the Rokid Max weighs only 75g, with a smooth overall design and a thickness of only 18.5mm at the thickest point, greatly improving wearing comfort. At the same time, the Rokid Max uses advanced optical polarization film technology, reducing front-facing light leakage by 90%. The speaker also has privacy protection processing, ensuring no dead angles in privacy.
Compared to the Rokid Air’s 0-500 degree myopia adjustment, the Rokid Max has upgraded to a 0-600 degree myopia adjustment, supporting a wider range of users without wearing glasses. For myopia or astigmatism beyond 0-600 degrees, nearsighted clips can be purchased. At the same time, the new generation Rokid Max adopts a customized appearance, and Max lenses can be created according to consumer preferences.
The Rokid Max Pro has an additional camera compared to the Rokid Max, and when combined with the Station Pro and YodaOS-Master operating system, users can experience a new world of mixed reality. The system includes SLAM gesture interaction, 6DoF spatial sound field, mixed reality recording technology, and other features, bringing users more convenient and efficient interaction capabilities.
At the same time as the hardware release, Rokid further expanded its content ecology and gameplay for movies, games, and light office work, comprehensively upgrading the user experience.
Regarding the previously released cloud office, Rokid has further upgraded it. Rokid has teamed up with Alibaba Cloud to create the “Dual System Dual Desktop” concept. Clicking on the office icon on the android desktop on the Station homepage switches to the Windows desktop and enters office mode. Holding down the menu key of the Station can return to the android desktop directly.
Rokid also released a new generation of self-developed AR spatial operating system, YodaOS-Master, and corresponding Rokid Max Pro glasses and Rokid Station Pro host. It is the first to achieve SLAM, 3D bare-handed interaction, first-person perspective sharing, visual positioning VPS, and other capabilities with a single camera. It can support multitasking and spatial creation and other AR experiences.
Rokid also launched a new AR spatial creation tool called “Lingjing”, showcasing its applications in several fields, including literature, education, and industry. It breaks the limitations of professional personnel, dedicated equipment, and specialized skills required for AR creation, reducing the time required from weeks or even half a year to a week, a few days, or even moments. With the system capabilities of self-developed YodaOS-Master and integrated capabilities of the end and cloud, “Lingjing” can create an AR spatial experience in just five simple steps: scanning the space through a mobile phone, rebuilding the cloud space, online scene layout, one-click publishing to multiple devices, and experiencing AR terminals (mobile phones and glasses).
