According to @ice universe, the Samsung Z Fold 5 will have the same main screen size and sub screen size as the Samsung Z Fold 4, which are 7.6 inches and 6.2 inches, respectively. However, it will be slightly lighter at 254g and thinner at 6.1mm compared to the previous generation. This could be due to Samsung’s new design and technology for the folding hinge.
SAMLOVER, a foreign technology media, has released some information about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable phones. The model numbers for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are SM-F946U and SM-F946W, with “U” representing the United States and “W” representing Canada. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has the model number SM-F731U.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a new “water droplet-shaped” folding hinge design, which offers a softer curve when folded, reducing screen creases and the risk of screen cracking. According to SamMobile, Samsung has conducted reliability tests on the hinge and will optimize it based on the results before mass production. The hinge is internally named “dumbbell” by Samsung. The storage specifications for both phones are similar to the Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 with 128GB of storage uses UFS 3.1, while other storage options use UFS 4.0. There is currently no information available regarding the memory capacity of these two foldable phones.
